Somiari Fubara, MHC-LP
I have worked with children, couples, individuals and families. If you are healing, or want to heal, from depression, anxiety, mood dysregulation, somatic ailments, stress, and/or trauma, I am eager to walk alongside you on your path to health. Using a holistic therapeutic approach, I will support your learning, relearning, and unlearning journey towards a place of full acceptance of the present.
I hold a Master’s in Child and Adolescent Psychology from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology, and received training in breath, body, and mind work under the guidance of Dr. Patricia Gerbarg and Dr. Richard Brown. My other post-graduate trainings and certificate programs include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Mindfulness Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (MBCT), Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT), Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy. I am also a Certified Child and Adolescent Trauma Professional(CATP), Certified Mental Health Integrative Medicine Provider(CMHIMP). I’ve practiced yoga for over 18 years, and am a trained yoga teacher.
To ensure that you receive comprehensive, effective care, I often collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of providers. Prior to joining Erika Malm Collective, I was the trauma specialist for over 120 released or escaped chibok girls in Nigeria and America, and was featured on 60 minutes for my work.
