Alice Roberts, LMSW
Helping people heal and find their path towards a meaningful life with fulfilling relationships is my calling. In our collaboration, I will honor your strengths, and together we will use them as a tool to find and overcome the impasses that keep you from moving forward. Together we will navigate through your experiences and relationships, heal emotional wounds, and rediscover your authentic self. From that place, it is possible to create the life and connections that you seek, and identify your vision for the future.
Certified by the Ackerman Institute for the Family, I am passionate about supporting couples and families to create strong, meaningful and creative relationships. And as a specialist in the treatment of trauma and eating disorders, when I work with individuals, I will always hold your family and lineage in mind.
My therapeutic stance is deeply grounded in Attachment Theory. I have advanced training in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), Accelerated Experiential-Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP), and Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy (TF-CBT). I am currently completing the Sex Therapy Program at The Institute of Contemporary Psychotherapies. I hold a Masters degree in Social Work from New York University and a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Virginia.
Before becoming a therapist I trained and performed in opera productions and musical theater, and I use my vocal training exercises to provide somatic healing in my work. Having recently returned to my native New York after calling Costa Rica, Colombia and Mexico home for many years, I enjoy holding sessions in both English and Spanish. My family is multicultural, and conversations about race, culture and gender are recurring themes at our dinner table. I bring these sensibilities into my work.
