Hello and Welcome!

I’m Erika Malm, a therapist, mental health activist, mother, partner, friend, sister and daughter. Authentic and meaningful relationships serve as my north star in all facets of my life. Establishing and re-establishing relationships with self and others is at the heart of my work.

After over 20 years specializing in the treatment of trauma, eating disorders and other complex mental illnesses, I created RESST (Relational, Experiential, Somatic, Spiritual Transformation) – a holistic and integrative approach to care for individuals, couples, families and organizations. RESST is intended for people with severe mental illness, as well as those who just need some redirection in their lives or help shifting their relationship patterns.

My Approach

RESST

Healing is not a destination — it's a shift in how you live, relate, and lead.

Relational

Specific skills to cultivate meaningful relationships in families, communities, and workplaces.

Experiential

Active exercises to sense, listen, learn and relearn, so old patterns fall away and new ones emerge.

Somatic

Reconnecting with your instincts, emotions, and inner wisdom through body-based practices.

Spiritual

Nurturing your inner life and aligning or realigning with your innate divine navigation system.

Transformation

Daily shifts to live in alignment in how you relate to yourself and others.

I’m drawn to relational, somatic, and experiential methods because - through both personal experience and the latest developments in neuroscience - I've learned that this is where deep, lasting transformation takes root.

While RESST stands on the shoulders and alongside many effective approaches to care, what sets it apart is its comprehensive integration of relational, experiential and somatic practices. These methods harness the healing power of connection - with ourselves, our loved ones, and with our innate spirituality - creating a roadmap for both internal and systemic transformation.

RESST grew out of my clinical training, over 20 years of caring for individuals, couples, and families, as well as teaching and supervising teams of therapists. It is also informed by the solutions I’ve found through my own personal challenges: learning to feel my emotions, trust my body’s cues, and move away from a lifelong pattern of overdoing and people-pleasing to realign with my innate divine navigation system. Transformative relationships have been key in helping me relearn how to trust my own system. The acronym “RESST” reflects that shift — from constant production to reclaiming rest.

My Philosophy

I continue to learn every day, and RESST is a living, evolving treatment approach that shifts as I grow and as the field advances. I am humbled by how much is yet to be known.

I hold a reverence for each individual’s human complexity, and a compassionate understanding of why this complexity serves as both a strength and vulnerability. People often come to me when they have not responded to conventional treatment methods. Whether we work together or not, I want to instill hope in you. The most effective method for your healing may not have presented itself yet, but healing is possible.

My Background

All of my trainings and lived experience led me to my current approach to care. My 30+ years of Transcendental Meditation and yoga have also been fundamental to my capacity to flourish.
